Our summer is coming to a close and with it comes a little bit more rain. We have our occasional rainy day now where as mid summer we went a full 38 days with no rain. Today was one of those days but the whales definitely don't care. Reports of J pod were coming from the west side of san juan. We had some adventurous passengers with us today who also didn't mind the rain and some even braved the rain on the bow of the boat. Before making it to the whales we stopped to observe a Stellar sea lion swimming in cattle pass and a puffin. The puffins are a rare sighting however we have seen this one particular puffin hanging out in cattle pass a few times this summer and it's always a treat. Soon our guests were ooooing and ahhhhing over the tail wavy dorsal fin of J1 (Ruffles). Other members of J pod were spread out nearby. After leaving the whales we made one final stop by whale rocks to observe the stellar sea lions hauled out on them. So while we may try to avoid the rain it's obvious the wildlife around here doesn't mind at all!
