Our Sunday Classic Whale Watch & Wildlife Tour was spent watching the T100’s in the teal blue waters of Boundary Pass. We first made our way north in San Juan Channel, cruising towards Waldron Island. We got word that a group of three orca whales were spotted near White Rock. It seems like the T100’s have been spotted in the waters around Waldron Island more days than not these past few weeks. We slowly made our way on scene and watched this family of whales start to circle White Rock. White Rock is a small island in Boundary Pass that is known to be a haul out site for harbor seals. We watched as these whales traveled tightly to shore, seemingly searching for seals. We got exciting looks as T100C/ Laurel has he surfaced right next to three seals on the shoreline. The seals looked quite spooked, but luckily for them the whales abandoned their seal mission and continued to zig zag around Boundary. After spending much of our afternoon with these whales, we departed and made our way towards the Cactus Islands. Not only were there harbor seals galore on Cactus, but there were also two bald eagles perched in the tree line. We even got a glimpse of a mom and pup harbor seal pair! Next we made our way towards Spieden Island where we got to view several mouflon sheep near the waters edge. These mouflons were busy drinking the spring fed ground water as well as eating the bull kelp that had washed ashore. We did a full circumnavigation of Spieden and then met up with the T100’s once again as they were making their way south in San Juan Channel. What a great way to end the busiest weekend of the year.
