Anacortes is located on Fidalgo Island, equidistant from Seattle to the south and Vancouver, British Columbia, to the north (about 80 miles either direction). Part of the San Juan archipelago, Fidalgo Island is accessible by bridge from both the Skagit Valley and Whidbey Island.

Anacortes Activities

This seaside town is known for its historic Old Town district and outdoor recreation activities. Art galleries and antique shops, stores for cooks and stores for books, elegant dining and casual cafes – Anacortes welcomes you to “Coast In and Hang Out.”

Want to get wild? Try rock climbing on Mt. Erie, hiking at a handful of trails in and around town (including the breathtaking Washington Park), charter fishing any time of year, or beachcombing from a number of water-access points around town.

If planning your visit for August, be sure to take in the Anacortes Arts Festival. Featuring visual and performing arts, food vendors, beers gardens and kids’ activities, you’ll want to make a day of it.
