Uniform Standards


Uniforms-Dress Codes and Grooming Standards

The reason we at San Juan Safaris wear a uniform is so that guests can distinguish us immediately as staff. As professionals, we must maintain a professional image. Because we are professional, we should not need to be reminded about dress, grooming or conduct.

All staff is expected to arrive at work in uniform ready to work.

Shirts
San Juan Safaris' T-shirt or polo shirt with San Juan Safaris logo. Shirts are to be tucked into shorts or pants as part of the uniform code. (3 will be free, the rest purchased at cost)

Pants/Shorts
Clean, out-door style
Color: beige
Length: walking length only, short-shorts are a no-no

Hat
San Juan Safaris ball cap hat (to be worn bill forward) or San Juan Safaris knit cap (Month of May and cold days)
(One each will be free, the rest purchased at cost)

Shoes
Tiva or Chaco sandles or flat shoes with non-slip soles
Must have ties or secure straps
No flip-flops. No bare feet

Hair
MALES: Clean. Male's hair will not fall below collar length. No ponytails, Mohawks, partially shaven razor designs or unnaturally colored hair. Males will either be completely clean-shaven or have a short, neatly trimmed mustache that does not extend over the top lip.
FEMALES: Clean, no unnaturally styled or colored hair.

Piercing & Tattoos:
-No facial piercing, both male and female
-Females only: Ears, two holes only (i.e. only wearing two earrings- one on each ear.
-No visible tattoos, male or female. If you do have a tattoo, it must be covered by the San Juan Safaris uniform to public view while at work.

Smoking
Not permitted in the office, on the boat or near the docks

Underwear
Male and Female: must have on underpants beneath shorts.

Females: bras to be worn when on duty.

Name Tags
One name tag will be given free to each crewmember. This is to be worn while on duty as it is considered part of your uniform. If the first is lost or broken, another will be provided at a charge of $5.

Perfumes
Lotions and other kinds of fragrance should be conservative. If it can be detected at arm length, it's too strong.
