Experience remote coastlines and wildlife on our Outer Island Sea Kayak Adventure.
This tour is designed to accommodate paddlers of all skill levels looking to experience something more than a standard tour. Enjoy a full day adventure with multiple destinations that you can design yourself or we will design a full day experience to satisfy your adventurous independent sprit.
Your tour can emphasize natural history or birding or both. You can add a gourmet lunch, snacks and beverages for a picnic on the beach.
We currently conduct these tours on and/or around Lopez Island, Shaw Island, Stuart Island, Speiden Island, Cactus Islands, and Sucia Island.
Kittiwake, a US Coast Guard inspected vessel is the boat we use to transport smaller groups. Our U.S. Coast Guard certified vessels "Sea Hawk" and "Sea Lion" are also available for larger outer island kayak and hiking groups. The MV "Kittiwake" is the perfect vessel to smoothly deliver our clients to their destination. The boat ride is always part of the adventure, and allows time to get aquainted with the guide and our state of the art equipment. Because of "Kittiwake's" speed and our central location, you'll be paddling within an hour of your departure time.
What sets this tour apart from the competition, is that since we use our own vessel to transport with our own captains, the trip out can stop to watch whales or wildlife on the way out. We can even re-load the kayaks and go to a different location.
Once you reach your destination the kayaks will be placed on the beach with all the gear. Your guide will acquaint you with your kayak equipment, give a brief paddle and safety lesson and assist you with your kayak gear. You will then get into your kayak from the beach and explore shorelines, reefs, and wildlife that would normally not be accessible on a 3-hour tour. Your destination will be determined by your guides expertise, weather, and wildlife sightings.
You are guaranteed 3-4 hours of paddling and exploring with our most seasoned guides.
The islands offer a good deal of wildlife viewing. We see Bald Eagles, Great Blue Heron, Harbor Seals, Cormorants, King Fishers and many times we see Wild Mink, Otter, Tide Pools, Kelp Forests and all types of Sea Birds and occasionally Killer Whales too.
At the end of the day, the kayaks will be reloaded onto the boat and you will relax while watching the island scenery go by - planning your next trip to the islands.

When to book: minimum is 24 hours prior to the tour date you would like.
Deposit required: 50% non-refundable deposit at time of booking. Balance due 30 days prior to the tour. No refunds on balance 14 days prior to tour date.
Outer Island Kayak Adventure includes: Captain, naturalist guide, vessel to & from the island (s), all kayak equipment including life vests, dry bags, paddle, fiberglass double kayaks, maps and animal id charts.
Gourmet lunches, beverages and snacks can be arranged for an additional fee. Just ask us.
